International Yoga Day Celebrated with Great Fervour at Cambridge School Greater Noida
On the occasion of International Day of Yoga, 21.06.2019 more than 600 Senior and Junior Wing NCC Cadets from across 19 schools converged at Cambridge School Greater Noida for a 10-day Combined Annual Training Camp-129 organized by 31 UP (Girls) Bn NCC Ghaziabad. Parents of NCC Cadets and members of the school staff also participated enthusiastically in the program.
Lt. General Ashwani Kumar. PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC – the Adjutant General of the Indian Army was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Brigadier S P Sinha, Commander, NCC Ghaziabad group, Dr. Anurag Bhargava, the Chief Medical Officer of Gautam Budh Nagar and Mr. Indranil Gupta, Manager Cambridge School Greater Noida were the other dignitaries who attended the program.
The highlights of the event were the ceremonial welcome given to the chief guest by the NCC Cadets. It was a treat to the eyes to see the participants perform yogic exercises with a lot of precision and synchronization. The morale and enthusiasm of all cadets were greatly boosted by their interaction with such a high-ranking officer of the Indian Army.
In his address, Lt. General Kumar observed that Yoga is a science designed to cultivate health and happiness, a greater sense of awareness and higher consciousness. So, Yoga is an ascetic discipline which is practiced for good health and relaxation and it symbolizes the Union of body and consciousness. He also highlighted the significance of developing a strong sense of values as well as the importance of goal-setting in our lives.
Dr. Rekha Bhushan, Principal of Cambridge School Greater Noida was of the view that the idea behind observance of International Yoga Day was not only to raise global awareness of the several benefits of Yoga but also to carry forward a rich tradition that has its roots in our country.
