An encounter with danseuse Kavita DwiBedi
The entire school watched mesmerized as renowned Odissi dancer Ms. Kavita Dwibedi under the aegis of SPIC MACAY performed at Cambridge School, Greater Noida. Before she started her performance, she introduced the students to the historical background of the dance, the archaeological evidence of it the distinct costume & silver jewelery worn by Odissi dancers and also the evolution of the dance to its present form.
She started her dance performance with Manglacharan, followed by Pallavi and then concluded with Krishna Leela. It was indeed an excellent lec-dem as throughout her performance she enlightened the students with the different mudras, postures, expressions, etc used in Odissi and the meaning conveyed by them. This piqued the interest of the students and the enthusiasm to know and learn more. Hence, after the dance recital there ensued an interesting interaction between the dauseuse and the audience.
The students posed several questions to Ms. Kavita Dwibedi which she answered with great poise and patience. On being asked about her mantra for success she said it was her belief in Discipline, Devotion, Dedication and Determination. It was indeed a highly enriching experience for the students helping them to understand and appreciate India’s rich cultural heritage.
